What are scams?
Scams are frauds and tricks designed to
cheat people out of their money. Scammers
approach people in a number of ways,
including at home, by phone, by post or online.
Scams can include:
- Fake competitions, prize draws and lotteries
- Rogue traders
- False investment opportunities or pension schemes
- Clairvoyant or dating scams
- Requests for donations to fake charities or requests for personal loans.
