Urgent Alert: Fraudulent Emails Targeting GP Practices
Dear Colleagues,
We are issuing an urgent warning to all Derbyshire GP practices regarding a recent increase in fraudulent email activity targeting primary care.
A practice has reported receiving an email that appear to come from one of their GP Partners, requesting urgent payment of invoices this email address was ‘From: (Practice Drs Name) <doctor.5938935324@libero.it>’ . These emails are not genuine and are part of a wider scam affecting GP surgeries and potentially other NHS organisations.
Key characteristics of the scam:
The sender impersonates a GP or trusted NHS contact.
The email requests immediate payment for goods or services.
In many cases, the goods were never ordered or received.
The fraudster may use plausible company names or NHS-style formatting to appear legitimate.
What you should do:
Do not respond or make any payments based on these emails.
Check the senders email address.
Verify all invoice requests independently before processing.
