OpenSAFELY Reminder & Importance

OpenSAFELY is a non‑government and non‑NHS platform. It extracts only the necessary data from patient records and fully pseudonymises it. The system enhances the quality of population‑level data available to support improvements in healthcare, treatments, and future service planning.

Why should I do it?
1) It’s a legal requirement
2) It will save you the time of reviewing data‑sharing agreements for population‑level health data/analytics .OpenSAFELY operates within the existing legal framework and does not require additional practice‑level agreements. It protects you as a data controller as you know what/how the data is extracted and used, and ultimately it protects against potential misuse patient identifiable data.
