Derby & Derbyshire LMC Elections

It’s 4 years since our last elections. This year, we have 30 seats available open to all GPs on the National Performers List, working across Derby & Derbyshire.

WHY STAND?

Standing for your LMC is a great way to expand your knowledge and skills, while giving a voice to your colleagues in frontline general practice. This is a challenging and important time for general practice, and we need the strongest possible voice from the grassroots as practices continue to manage their response to the coronavirus pandemic and prepare for the significant health needs which will follow it. There is also the formation of the ICS in Derbyshire together with changes to the CCG as we know it. If ever there was a time to think about joining your LMC, it is now.

HOW TO STAND?

The work of the LMC reflects the ambitions and thoughts of the Committee. This is your opportunity to become a part of that representative process. Energetic, effective, and reliable local representation is crucial.

By standing for election to the Committee, you can help make a difference to all your colleagues and find a new source of peer support for yourself. We have an experienced team who will help you to understand a deeper knowledge of commissioning, contractual and NHS regulation.

WHO CAN STAND?  Those eligible to vote are all GPs on the national Performers List who are working in Derbyshire. This includes GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Locum GPs, and Out of Hours GPs.

The DDLMC are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We aim to create an environment to encourage participation from a wide range of GP’s.

At least three seats will be protected for sessional GP members,

WHEN DO WE MEET?

We usually meet on the first Thursday of the month. On alternate months, the meeting will be a shorter one-hour meeting. Whilst meetings have been remote, we anticipate that in the future meetings will be a mixture of face-to face and remote. Committee members receive an honorarium for attendance at LMC committee meetings and are also paid for their attendance at meetings on behalf of the LMC
