DDLMC WEEKLY UPDATE

15/06/22

Secondary Care To Primary Care Workload Shift Data Gathering

DDLMC are asking if you could take some time to share examples of unnecessary workload transfer from secondary care, from UHDB, CRH and SHH. Please send non-patient identifiable examples to ddlmc.office@nhs.net . We will be collating these examples and then feeding these into the relevant meetings that the LMC attends.

There will be no closing date for these examples. We will continue to collate these as evidence at meetings in order to improve the secondary to primary care workload.

Accurate Coding Of Diabetic Patients Issue (to complete the validation of your patients by 11th of July 2022)

We have been contacted by practices with regards to the request by General Medical Advice and Support Team (GMAST) to review codes for the identification of eligible individuals for diabetic eye screening.

We have raised this at a national level as Derbyshire is not alone in receiving this request. We have also raised this with the CCG whose response is “We have contacted colleagues at the Screening and Immunisations team who have been able to confirm that this activity is considered as core work, so there is no additional payment offered for completion of it.”

Whilst we understand it is frustrating and creates additional workload, the request is classed as core work and no further funding will be allocated to support the work. There is an opportunity to increase QOF prevalence and it is also an opportunity for improving data quality.

Any enquires regarding SEFT please contact seft.team@nhs.net. For any other queries about the NHS Diabetic Eye Screening programme, please contact your local screening and immunisation team or email the central DES team england.phs7apmo@nhs.net

Partnership Agreements - The Latest Issues You Need To Know

In this webinar Oliver Pool addresses the legal issues that many practices have faced over the past couple of years and how those pitfalls can be avoided by other practices, particularly through amendments to the partnership agreements. This session covers the latest key changes in :-

  • Joining of new partners
  • Exiting of current partners
  • When do you (don’t you) need to update the partnership agreements
  • Valuation disputes and how to avoid them
  • Pros and cons of last man standing clauses

Request From Secondary Care for Zostavax Process

Rheumatology have been sending requests to General Practice asking them to administer Zostavax (Shingles vaccine) before they can begin treatment. These patients usually fall outside of the agreed PGD and specs.

We have requested a process be drawn up by the CCG, which can be found here  Vaccination outside commissioned cohorts (attached document below).

If you have any queries around the processor IOS payment then please email ddccg.primarycarequalityteam@nhs.net

NATIONAL UPDATES

Delayed Contractual Changes for Deceased Patient Records

NHSE have confirmed that the contractual changes for the management of deceased patient records have yet to take effect. This is due to required legislative and system changes remaining outstanding, meaning that practices should continue printing and sending the full records to PCSE until NHSE notifies otherwise.

PCSE will also retain the obligation to process AHRA requests it receives directly until that time. As this was not explained at the outset, it has been raised with NHSE. They have confirmed that neither elements of the changes regarding deceased patient records have yet to come into effect. They wouldn’t be drawn on when exactly they will but suggested that it would be after July. They have committed to informing the profession when that happens.

NHS Smartcard Renewal Pressures

NHS Digital are expecting a large influx of NHS smartcard renewal requests in the next four weeks. If any practice staff have received automated messages that their smartcards are due for renewal they are encouraged to self-renew as soon as possible. NHS Digital have guidance on how to self-renew which can be found here.

Have you completed Britain's Healthiest Workplace survey?

We hope you agree that it is particularly important to think about our mental and physical wellbeing at this time, given the amount of change that we are all experiencing.

That’s why we, alongside our colleagues across Joined Up Care Derbyshire have signed up to take part in Britain’s Healthiest Workplace, the UK’s largest workplace-wellbeing survey powered by Vitality. We’re encouraging all employees to take part to understand, maintain and improve your health and wellbeing, and to help us understand how we can better support you in doing so. The information you provide will be vital to help us identify priorities over the next year and beyond.

You can access the survey here Survey (medallia.eu)

Who is your Wellbeing Champion?

One of the ambitions set out in the NHS People plan is to encourage all organisations to roll out a network of Wellbeing Champions. There are many benefits to your organisation including improving employee morale, reducing absence rates and supports in building a healthier and more inclusive culture within practice.

We would like to support you with the implementation of this role and have attached a simple handout to inform and guide you on finding and implementing your Wellbeing Champion.

Health Improvement Advisor

Bookable appointments with our Health Improvement Advisor are available for every primary care site with a health improvement advisor to visit in person or virtually.
