Fit Note Information Update

 2022 - Information Update - Fit Notes - 1st July.pdf

From 1 July, new legislation comes into force which allows Nurses, Occupational therapists, Pharmacists, and Physiotherapists to legally certify fit notes, in addition to Doctors. To support this, the government has published guidance to help individuals and employers identify the knowledge, skills and experience required to certify fit notes. We have attached an information update to help summarise the main points of consideration for the update.

LOCAL UPDATES

Expression of Interest - GPTF Training and Development Non-Clinical, Reception, Admin & Practice Management Trainers

We are inviting Expressions of Interest to join a small team of individuals that can design, develop and deliver training for our General Practice workforce. This will include non-clinical roles such as admin, reception and management.

GPTF already has an excellent track record delivering our Practice Management Induction and Step-Up Practice Management programmes. We hope this provides an exciting opportunity to expand to other admin and non-clinical workforce roles which adds to our portfolio of clinical education and training.

Healthwatch Derbyshire Survey

Following feedback from patients Healthwatch Derbyshire (Healthwatch Derbyshire — Your spotlight on local services) is running a survey to learn more about the impact of changes made to the way we access our GP practices, and how these changes have impacted patients.

The survey will be running over the summer months and any feedback received about your practice will be shared with you following the completion of the final report. If you would also like to receive a copy of the final report or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any of my colleagues using the contact details below.

We will also be running this campaign on our social media channels, so feel free to share those posts on your social media platforms too.

NATIONAL UPDATES

Covid 19 Vaccination Programme Enhanced Service Specification

NHS England have now published an updated enhanced service specification Coronavirus » COVID-19 vaccination enhanced service specification for autumn/winter 2022 for general practice (england.nhs.uk) for the Covid 19 vaccination programme, alongside a covering letter. Practices should note that the programme from September will pay a reduced Item of Service fee of £10.06 per dose. As a result, we strongly recommend that practices review the impact that this funding reduction will have on their ability to undertake the enhanced service. Practices should also be aware that the deadline if they do decide to sign up for the service is 5pm on 14 July.

Letters From GP for travel

It has been brought to our attention that some airlines are advising travellers bringing medication in their hand luggage, should bring a letter from their medical practitioner confirming the type of medication and what it is for. We will raise this issue with the airline, but in the meantime, we would remind practices that patients can print off their medical record from the NHS app, or alternatively, practices are able to charge for travel-related requests for information.

That’s why we, alongside our colleagues across Joined Up Care Derbyshire have signed up to take part in Britain’s Healthiest Workplace, the UK’s largest workplace-wellbeing survey powered by Vitality. We’re encouraging all employees to take part to understand, maintain and improve your health and wellbeing, and to help us understand how we can better support you in doing so. The information you provide will be vital to help us identify priorities over the next year and beyond.

We would like to support you with the implementation of this role and have attached a simple handout to inform and guide you on finding and implementing your Wellbeing Champion.
