Get CQC Ready – What You Need to Know About the New Assessment Framework

If you're a Practice Manager or GP, understanding the CQC Single Assessment Framework (SAF) is essential. We've designed this session to break it all down in a clear, practical way – so you know what’s changed, what’s staying the same, and how to prepare for your next inspection with confidence.

Part A: The Single Assessment Framework – What’s New and What Matters

We’ll start with a straightforward overview of the SAF, covering:

  • What’s changed with the new framework – and what hasn’t.

  • The basics: how the ‘We’ and ‘I’ statements link to the 34 Quality Statements.

  • How the CQC will now score and rate practices – including the 6 types of evidence they’ll be looking at.

  • Why feedback from patients, staff, partners and leaders will be key to your inspection outcome.

Part B: Inspections – Planned vs Responsive

Next, we’ll explore how inspections now work in practice:

  • The difference between a planned and responsive assessment – and what triggers each one.

  • Key themes and trends from recent inspections, including common challenges and what inspectors are focusing on.

  • How to prepare for planned and responsive inspections, with a spotlight on HR, Staffing, Patient Engagement and Involvement, Equity in Access and Experiences and Governance

  • A chance to answer the questions the inspectors will ask you, your GP Partners and wider team using CQC Pathfinder.

This session is all about helping you prepare smartly, show your strengths clearly, and avoid surprises when the CQC gets in touch.
