New Practice Support Programme

A new programme for practices needing extra support has been launched by Derby and Derbyshire Local Medical Committee (LMC).

The programme will provide free advice, guidance and practical assistance to a select number of struggling practices.

The types of issues covered by the programme include, but are not restricted to:

· CQC inspections – have you received or anticipating a poor CQC rating?

· Partnership or staff issues – have relationships broken down within the partnership or do you have a high staff turnover?

· Financial – does your practice have a low income or is it struggling with budgets?

· Concerns about your GP Patient Survey results

· Struggling to meet national, ICS or PCN targets

· Issues with your Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) achievement or predicted results

The LMC has emailed all practices with details of the programme and an application form.

The deadline for applications is Friday, 18 July and practices will be notified of their acceptance onto the programme after Wednesday, 30 July.

The programme will be led by Sylvia Foster, a consultant project manager with 15 years’ experience as a practice manager.

If your practice is successful, Sylvia will meet the practice team and work with you to create an action plan, which will require approval by LMC board members.

Tailored support is expected to begin in August, and the duration will depend on the level of support needed.

Although the programme is free, the LMC cannot provide backfill payments or cash incentives for taking part.
