DDLMC WEEKLY UPDATE 13/09/22

Remembering Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

We are extremely saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

We would like to take the opportunity to reflect and remember our Great Queen Elizabeth II, who led her people with outstanding elegance and devotion. The Queen was extremely proud and dedicated to the NHS, undertaking patronage at many hospitals and charities. No Monarch has reigned over the UK for as Long as Queen Elizabeth II, since she ascended the throne in 1952, where she has seen the NHS evolve and change rapidly.

DDLMC Office and General Practice will be closed on Monday 19th September allowing staff to mourn and pay their respects during her funeral.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family at this time, and we join the nation in mourning her loss.

Rest in eternal peace Your Majesty.

Vaccination Market Engagement Questionnaire NHSE – Deadline 30th September

NHSE are asking vaccination providers to complete a market engagement questionnaire. We (DDLMC and GPPB) strongly recommend you read the document, and complete on behalf of your practice.

The questionnaire is quite wordy, DDLMC and GPPB have provided some examples of possible answers to the questions. These answers are for you to adapt, adopt or ignore. Please note these answers are not the opinion of DDLMC Committee.

Once you have completed the questionnaire (attached Enc 02 Market Engagement Questionnaire) please upload to the portal link https://uk.eu-supply.com/login.asp?B=UK - project reference ‘Quote/tender’ 56405 - and follow any on screen instructions.

Action on Outpatients: Super September

Super September is a national programme to accelerate current initiatives and focus capacity on patients who have waited the longest for an appointment within secondary or community care. CRH, UHDB and DCHS are taking part from 26th September for a period of 2-4 weeks in order to:

  • Move towards operational excellence (re-instate and consistently apply booking rules)
  • Support patients to move onto a Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) pathway where it is clinically safe to do so
  • Identify referral optimisation processes
  • Clinically validate future appointments

The national initiative has been developed at pace over August with local areas strongly encouraged to participate

In order to improve outpatient processes from the perspective of patients and staff, we are also commencing a piece of work after Super September to develop an outpatient strategy in collaboration with all partners and welcome nominations from interested GPs to work together in its creation and delivery.

Please do send any queries, questions, concerns and nominations through to the following email inbox, with the aim that we will create and circulate a FAQ document from questions that are sent to crhft.improvement@nhs.net

iRefer Derbyshire

Get the Right Test, First Time with iRefer Clinical Decision Support (CDS)

iRefer integrates the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) iRefer guidelines within electronic referral workflows, guiding general practitioners and other healthcare professionals to the appropriate imaging investigation (s).

An upgraded radiology referral system will fit into the existing request workflow of Systm1/EMIS and ICE Orders

Key benefits of this system are a reduced number of inappropriate imaging requests, rejections and the associated rework, additional learning for referrers, and an increased radiology imaging and reporting ability for the Trust Radiology department.

All practices that currently use ICE for radiology referrals to UHDB and CRH will be included in the deployment.

Further training and webinar details will be shared over the course of next few weeks.

For more information, you can click the link iRefer CDS (hs-sites-eu1.com) or email phil.vale@nuh.nhs.uk

In preparation for 1st November the following code can be added to a particular set of patient records if you have concerns, this will prevent them from having automatic access to prospective data: https://digital.nhs.uk/services/nhs-app/nhs-app-guidance-for-gp-practices/using-enhanced-review-snomed-codes-when-giving-a-patient-access-to-their-health-record

Along with other communications that may be released in the coming weeks you can also access: https://digital.nhs.uk/services/nhs-app/nhs-app-guidance-for-gp-practices/guidance-on-nhs-app-features/accelerating-patient-access-to-their-record/resources-to-support-staff-with-providing-online-services

Friends & Family Test

All GP practices should now be making the Friends and Family Test (FFT) available to patients who want to give quick, easy and anonymous feedback which can be used to identify good practice and opportunities for improvement. Full guidance is available, setting out the requirements including the new improved standard question.

This is an area which locally we know CQC may use as part of patient feedback, and we would encourage practices to check that they are using the Friends and Family Test.
