Salaried GP – Special Interest in Female Health (6 Sessions)

Mickleover Medical Centre, Derby
Supportive Practice | Bucolic Balance

We are seeking a 6-session Salaried GP with a special interest in female health to join our established and welcoming team. This opportunity arises due to a colleague’s retirement and reflects the clinical needs of our patient population.

You will be joining a practice where people genuinely enjoy coming to work. We offer the structure and support needed to thrive in modern general practice. Our team works hard, supports each other, and knows when to press pause for coffee, cake, or a quick lap with the dog. If you enjoy continuity of care, well-organised clinics, and a collaborative atmosphere, this is a great place to settle in.

Why Join Mickleover Medical Centre?

We are a GP-led practice in the leafy suburbs of Derby, with around 13,100 patients. Our leadership is stable, our admin team shields clinicians from unnecessary paperwork, and our reception team knows the regulars and when something does not feel right. Our Practice Manager Emma leads a capable and kind non-clinical team who keep everything moving efficiently.

We have recently welcomed three new GPs to our team, all of whom are male. To ensure we continue meeting the needs of our diverse patient population, we are now looking to expand our existing female health provision by recruiting a GP with experience and confidence in delivering high-quality care in this area. You will be joining a team that already provides women's health services and helping to enhance access and continuity.

We warmly welcome applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender. What matters most to us is your clinical expertise and your commitment to patient-centred care.

We are proud to be more than just a group of colleagues. Outside of work we are a lively mix of cyclists, kickboxers, bell ringers, water-skiers, bakers, plant botherers, potters, and more bakers. If you do not have a dog, we will lend you one. There are plenty to choose from.

The Team

You will be working alongside:

  • Four Partners

  • Five Salaried GPs

  • Two Nurse Practitioners

  • Two Practice Nurses

  • One Health Care Assistant

  • Two PCN Pharmacists

  • PCN First Contact Physio

  • PCN Social Prescriber

  • A Care Coordinator

We are also part of a forward-thinking Primary Care Network made up of 10 practices, covering around 100,000 patients. This gives us access to a home-visiting team, extended access clinics, and additional shared resources.

The Role

  • Six clinical sessions per week, ideally on Monday, Thursday and Friday

  • Delivery of female health services, including:

    • Contraceptive procedures (coils and implants)

    • Menopause and HRT clinics

    • Gynaecological advice and care

  • Working as part of the existing clinical team to support and expand our women’s health offering

  • Shared duty doctor sessions (split into morning and afternoon)

  • Participation in the Enhanced Access rota (Tuesday or Thursday evenings and very occasional Saturday mornings)

  • Occasional home visits for palliative or complex patients, supported by our PCN team

What You Will Bring

  • GMC registration and inclusion on the NHS England performers list

  • A special interest and experience in women’s health

  • Certification in coil and implant fitting, or future ambition to do so

  • A kind, team-focused mindset with good communication skills

  • Proficiency in SystmOne (or willingness to learn)

  • Participation in our 'All Ideas Matter' culture

This role would suit a GP who enjoys both autonomy and collaboration. You will be part of a team that values professional integrity and warm working relationships.

What We Offer

  • Six weeks annual leave plus one week of study leave

  • A supportive and well-organised working environment

  • Minimal routine admin and efficient clinical systems

  • A beautiful Derbyshire setting with excellent schools, access to the countryside, and nearby city links

  • Plenty of cake and the occasional dog to borrow

Please note: we are not a Tier 2 sponsoring employer.
