MMR Vaccines for General Practice Staff

There have been a number of queries from practices about MMR Vaccines for staff as CQC are focusing on this issue during inspections. The latest SIT newsletter (attached) provides clarification for practices who may have staff who have not had the full MMR vaccines:

MMR Vaccination for Healthcare Workers

It is also important for Healthcare Workers to protect themselves against Measles by ensuring their MMR status is complete. Therefore, irrespective of age, those with incomplete vaccinations or no known history of having the MMR vaccine should visit the GP practice they are registered with to obtain catch up of this vaccination. This is available as part of the NHS programme in line with the UK Measles Elimination Strategy and the vaccine can be obtained from central stock. This is not classed as an occupational health service, but as an individual completing missed immunisations. Please contact the Screening and Immunisation Team if you wish to discuss further.
