Medicine Management Assistant

 

Old Station surgery is a democratic, caring and inclusive practice with teamwork, support and compassion at its core. We take pride in delivering quality care to our patients and have a strong training and personal development ethos.

 

Serving a patient population of c15,500 in a modern purpose-built premises in the heart of Ilkeston, Derbyshire, the surgery has an on-site pharmacy unit and 2 branch surgeries in the neighbouring areas of Cotmanhay and Kirk Hallam.

 

We are a team of 6 partners and 3 salaried GP's supported by excellent team of ANP’s Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants, Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician and well established administrative and managerial team.

 

Due to the maternity leave, we are looking for a Part- Time Medicine Management Assistant to join our existing Medicine Management Team lead by our Senior Clinical Pharmacist on a fixed term contract for 9-12 motnhs.

 

 

The successful candidate will be:

 

  • A team player who can work independently within the remit of the role but also as a part of small and cohesive team.
  • Flexible to cover annual leave and sickness.
  • A good communicator who can communicate effectively with all the stakeholders.
  • A person with keen eye for detail and who will see tasks assigned through to the end.
  • Patient and empathetic to the needs of patients and your colleagues
  • Respectful in your manner
  • Willing to learn and develop further skills to benefit the practice.

 

 

Main duties:

 

  • Being first point of call for any medication related queries
  • Triage medication related queries
  • Issuing of Compliance medication requests
  • Supporting the team in dealing with request for medication from Care and Nursing Homes; DN team
  • Support the provision of acute request for medication within remit of the role
  • Process repeat medication requests which are beyond review in line with practice prescribing protocol
  • Any other duties as directed by supervisors.

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Ideally you will have minimum NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or similar

 

Experience

  • Dispensary assistant in Pharmacy setting or prescription clerk in Primary Care Setting.
