GP Educator – Health Education Derbyshire Training Hub

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1-2 GPs to join Health Education Derbyshire training hub (HED) as an Educator. HED nurture and empower Derbyshire’s primary and social care workforce through the provision of professional, accessible, and inclusive training experiences that meet their needs today and prepares them for the innovative healthcare system of tomorrow. Health Education Derbyshire Training hub is commissioned by Health Education England, collaborates closely with General Practice Task Force, and is hosted by Alexin Healthcare CIC, a registered not for-profit community interest company. The Training Hub Educator will be working within a cohesive, high performing and supportive Team.

Educator Profile

  • An established GP with an active interest in practice-based education, including medical, nursing, new roles (ARRS) and ways of working.
  • A passion to make a difference to primary care workforce, education and development and helping to make Derbyshire a great place to work.
  • Derby and Derbyshire credibility, knowledge and established working relationships in primary care, especially with Primary Care Network Clinical Directors.

Main duties of the job

Contract Deliverables

  • Support practices in becoming recognised learning environments
  • Assessing practice learning environment
  • Upskill clinical supervisors in line with best practice and standards.
  • Lead on the quality assured placements in line with best practice.
  • Co-ordinate and deliver multi-professional learning and development opportunities for primary care.
  • Lead/or co-lead on the HEE Core Function 4 – New Roles and plan educational programmes
  • Successfully perform against the HEE KPI’s for the new roles, placements, and clinical supervisors.
  • Contribute to the success of the HEE 6 Core Functions.
  • Administer, present at and if required Chair meetings.
  • Attend internal and external meetings representing HED as detailed below- NB not exhaustive:

a) Primary Care Workforce Group Meeting (monthly)

b) HED HEE Core Function 1, 4 and 6 meetings (weekly)

Sessional Commitment

Ideally a total of 6 sessions per week to cover across Derby/ Derbyshire. Less than 6 sessions per week / job shares considered.
