GP Specific GDPR update

There has been a lot of scaremongering about the forthcoming implementation of GDPR and practices are rightly concerned about the impact this may have on them.

The GPC Policy Lead on GP IT Dr Paul Cundy has written the attached blog and if you do nothing else today I would wholeheartedly recommend that you read this in detail as it will provide much needed clarity and reassurance.

Please also see attached the latest IGA Guidance which is useful generic guidance. However, please take the comment in paragraph 3 “Myth 1: Everything has to be sorted out and perfect for 25 May FALSE” with a pinch of salt. This does not mean that practices can ignore GDPR and although you do not need to have perfection by that date, we would urge you to continue your planning for the implementation on 25th May 2018.
