De Montfort University Practice Nursing Programme
Please find attached flyer that De Montfort University (DMU) have developed on General Practice Nursing (GPN) development from Gill Beardmore, HEE Primary Care Nurse Lead.
HEE would like to urge for a possibility of further cohorts for Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire. Cohorts commence in September 2019, but with this being short notice the following cohort will start in January 2020.
Also attached are 2 PDFs that were developed some time ago by HEE. The first PDF is aimed at new Nurses aspiring to make the transition to GPN and the second is aimed at supporting Nurses, Managers and GPs wanting to employ a new Nurse without GPN experience.
The contact details are correct apart from the DMU contact (new programme lead) who is now: Allison.brindley@dmu.ac.uk
The Programme aims to prepare registered nurses who have not worked in general practice before to have a baseline competence in the General Practice Nursing (GPN) role through both theoretical and practice learning. This will allow employers in the future to expect a safe, competence practice nurse and a certain level of consistency in terms of knowledge, skills and competence.
