EMAS Partnership Meeting - 18 June 2019
The LMC, CCG and local GPs have had an initial meeting with the senior management of EMAS.
Various issues were being discussed including:
- Better partnership working
- Better understanding of and the concerns around accepting clinical accountability when EMAS is on scene with a patient and advice is requested from a GP re ongoing care arrangements or treatment
- Time of any response from a GP and is a GP always the right person to call
- Better use of IT to aid EMAS eg accessing SCR and a care plan
- Developing an algorithm for paramedics to follow for most the appropriate patient care when they are on scene
- Direct referral to acute specialities by paramedics where appropriate rather than admission via ED
Further meetings are scheduled
If there are any specific or broader issues you would like us to raise, please feed these into the LMC office

Next Generation GP Programme
‘Next Generation GP’ is a programme for emerging leaders in general practice designed by, and for, a group of early-career GPs and trainees supported by the GP TaskForce Derbyshire, EMLA and the Phoenix Programme Nottingham.
Our aim is to inspire GP trainees and newly qualified GPs to be informed leaders as well as excellent clinicians, with the insight and connections they need to change and improve the system in which we work. We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the second cohort for East Midlands Next Generation GPs.
