RCGP Vale of Trent Faculty Education Lead: Job Description & Person Specification

RCGP Vale of Trent Faculty Education Lead: Job Description & Person Specification

Accountable to: Faculty Chair or other nominated officer

Context:

The Vale of Trent Faculty of the RCGP has 1,653 members across Southern Derbyshire, South and Mid- Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire. The Faculty Board wishes to expand its offer of clinical educational activities and events to local members. The Education Lead will be responsible for developing and delivering a plan to achieve this.

Most Faculty officer and lead roles are undertaken on a voluntary basis and not subject to remuneration. The remuneration for this particular role is in acknowledgement of time commitment over and above that of other lead roles. However, it is also expected that, after the first year, the role will become income- generating aiming to be, at a minimum, cost neutral to the Faculty.

The Education Lead will not be expected to work in isolation but to collaborate effectively with other Faculty Board members who have the necessary skills, experience, and expertise to support them in their role.

The duties and responsibilities listed below would be delivered in a phased manner over a period of time as agreed with the Faculty Chair (or other nominated officer) and Board.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To collaborate with a range of stakeholders including GP Educators, local universities, Health Education England, PCDC, LMCs, CCGs and NHS Trusts, and to act as the link between these and Faculty Board in relation to developing educational activities.  2. To work in collaboration with the College and other Faculty Education Leads or Facilitators, using ideas and examples that have worked well elsewhere.  3. To develop a work programme, in conjunction with the Faculty Board, particularly focussing on areas of unmet or developing clinical education need, ensuring an appropriate geographic spread of activities.  4. To identify opportunities to generate income from educational events including from sponsorship, subject to College policies on sponsorship, with the aim of making the Education Lead role financially self-supporting within two years.  5. To facilitate the wider involvement of the Faculty membership in the delivery of education.  6. To act as a reference source for enquiries regarding educational activities and projects.  7. To report regularly to Faculty Board and to submit an annual written report.

This job description will be subject to annual review
