GP ASPIRE
GP ASPIRE - Future Proofing General Practice
What is GP Aspire?
Initially starting as a pilot project in early 2018, we have now secured funding to deliver a menu of flexible career options to help retain GPs considering leaving general practice.
Our pilot looked into current support available and the key drivers for GPs leaving the profession. We worked with local GPs issuing questionnaires and held a listening event to research "quit" decisions in the Derbyshire GP workforce. We have also linked with existing GP Plus schemes to understand previous successes and failures, thus modifying our scheme accordingly.
The messages were clear. GPs wanted:-
- Flexibility
- A reduction in cumbersome administration
- The need to feel valued
- Support for decision-making
- Wellbeing support
In light of this, we have created the interactive Derbyshire GP Support e-brochure explaining the local and national support available to Derbyshire GPs at all stages of their career journey.
You can find more about all of the GPTF projects and support on our website .
WE NEED YOU
A CHANGE OF ROLE?
If you want advice on varied careers, a change in career or what options are available to you, please get in touch. We’re already supporting over 50 Derbyshire GPs in working out their next steps.
THINKING OF LEAVING?
If you have recently left the profession, changed role or are considering leaving the profession in the next 5 years then we want to hear from you.
Your experiences can help shape our work to provide options which can improve a GP's working life. We would like to give GPs time to participate in an exit Interview to discuss their career and advise us in developing the GP Aspire programme further.
