A practical ear care course for Healthcare Support Workers.

Develop safe practice in ear irrigation (syringing) which attracts a high level of litigation.

Course Content

Review of anatomy and physiology

Examination of the ear using an otoscope

Common ear problems

• foreign bodies

• earwax blockage (cerumen impaction)

• Be able to correctly use an otoscope for examining the ear.
• Understand treatment of minor ear problems using best practice rationales.
