Course Overview
The course is for professionally registered staff involved in childhood vaccinations.
The programme follows the current Public Health England Standards for Immunisation, Department of Health guidance on childhood immunisation and the Green Book.

- Applied anatomy and physiology of the immune system
- Immunisation and how vaccines work
- National policy, the current UK childhood schedule and selected other countrys childhood schedules
- Unscheduled vaccinations
- Epidemiology - Notifications of Infectious Diseases (NOIDs) and Cover of Vaccination Evaluated Rapidly (COVER)
- Vaccine preventable disease
- Legal aspects of vaccination
- Vaccine storage and handling
- Administration technique - babies and children
- Anaphylaxis Update
- Communicating with parents
- Strategies for improving vaccine uptake
- Current issues related to vaccination
Course aims and outcomes
- Be able to provide accurate and up to date information about childhood diseases and vaccines
- Provide a safe, effective and high standard of care
